What is Anoheal?
Anoheal cream relieves pain in the anal region caused by fissures or tears. It contains the active ingredient diltiazem, which is a so-called ‘calcium blocker’. Anoheal is a prescription-only medicine that can be ordered online through a Dokteronline.com partner pharmacy.
What is this medicine used for?
Anoheal is used for relieving pain due to anal fissures. Anal fissures are cracks or tears in the lining of the anus and anal canal. They are caused by trauma to the anus. The most commonly associated causes are chronic constipation, excessive straining during bowel movement or anal sex. Anal fissures cause problems such as itching and pain, especially after a bowel movement, and in some cases, blood in stool. Anoheal dilates blood vessels. This improves blood supply to the anus, which helps the fissure to heal. Anoheal also relaxes the anal muscles, which reduces the pain.
How to use Anoheal
Cleanse the anus with a cotton ball dipped in water or oil. The cream is applied inside and around the anus using your finger. Wash your hands after applying the cream. It may take some time before the effect of Anoheal is noticed. You should keep using the cream for as long as your doctor has prescribed. In most cases, it takes two weeks for the medicine to reach full effect and the pain to subside. Although the pain may go away, it may take several weeks or months for the fissure to heal completely. Also, an important part of the treatment for anal fissures involves trying to prevent constipation. You should therefore drink at least two litres of water a day, choose foods that are high in fibre and exercise on a regular basis. And don’t delay going to the toilet when you feel the need.
Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the usual dose is:
- apply a strip of cream about two cm long to the affected area twice daily (morning and evening).
Read the package leaflet before use.
