Why buy Co-codamol?

Co-codamol has a painkilling and stimuli suppressant effect

Co-codamol belongs to a class of painkilling and stimuli suppressant medications. The active ingredients in Co-codamol are paracetamol and codeine. This combination makes Co-codamol one of the stronger types of painkillers. It is used to relieve mild to moderate pain, such as joint pain.

Co-codamol is marketed under various brand names. It is also available as a generic medicine without a brand name.

When should you use Co-codamol?

You can decide to buy Co-codamol when other painkillers such as paracetamol or other non-steroidal painkillers (NSAIDs) like diclofenac, ibuprofen, aspirin or naproxen are not working. This medicine is effective in treating the symptoms of the flu (especially in combination with coughing), conditions caused by wear and tear of the joints or inflammation of the joints (rheumatism, gout, arthrosis), headache, back pain, toothache, menstrual pain, post-operative pain, and other types of pain.

How does Co-codamol work?

Co-codamol contains two active ingredients, paracetamol and codeine. This combination has two main effects:

Paracetamol is a medicine that relieves fever and pain. It prevents the transmission of pain signals to the brain. If pain signals do reach the brain, the codeine dampens them. Therefore, even though the cause of the pain may remain, less pain is actually felt and the pain becomes more manageable.

Codeine also has a cough suppressing effect. In other words, it reduces the urge to cough. Co-codamol starts to relieve pain and tickly coughs within 30 minutes of taking a dose, and provides three to five hours of relief.
