What is Electrolade?
Electrolade is a pouch (sachet) with powder that is used for severe, acute diarrhea and vomiting. There is a risk of dehydration because you lose fluids, minerals and electrolytes. Minerals are needed for the proper functioning of all cells in the body, and electrolytes are salts that are responsible for the maintenance of various processes in our body. If the balance is disrupted, the organs no longer function properly. The active ingredients of Electrolade are rehydration salts and anhydrous dextrose. One sachet contains sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and anhydrous dextrose. Electrolade is available at pharmacies without a prescription. Electrolade can be used by everyone, from babies to seniors. This medication replenishes the salts and the water you lose after severe acute diarrhea and / or vomiting.
Usage and dosage Electrolade
Electrolade is easy to use. Dissolve a sachet of 200 ml in fresh drinking water. For babies, you should boil the water first. Do let the water cool down before you use it.
Drink the solution within one hour and do not add any extras like salt and / or sugar. Make sure that you do not use no more than 200 ml of water. More or less water disturbs the balance of the active ingredient. A prepared solution can be stored in the refrigerator for 24 hours. You may use 16 sachets per day (24 hours). If symptoms do not improve within 48 hours, talk to your doctor.
Adults: dissolve 1 or 2 sachets at a time in water after each diarrhea attack. Children use 1 sachet at a time with a maximum of 12 bags per 24 hours. For babies under the age of 2 it is advisable to stop with all foods, except breast milk, that should continue as usual. Let the infant drink Electrolade that is 1 to 1 1/2 times the usual feeding amount. Read the leaflet for the recommended dosage. Patients with diabetes should take the glucose in Electrolade into account.
