What is Nipatra?
Nipatra is a chewable tablet that contains the active ingredient sildenafil, a substance that belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. Nipatra improves blood circulation in the penis, allowing men to get and sustain an erection when they are sexually stimulated. Nipatra is the first chewable tablet that treats erectile dysfunction. The tablets can be swallowed easily and discreetly because they can also be taken without water.
What is it used for?
Nipatra is prescribed in the treatment of Erectile Dysfunction (ED), also referred to as impotence. Erectile dysfunction is often related to poor blood circulation in the penis. Because blood flow to the corpus cavernosum is restricted, it is difficult to get or sustain an erection. Nipatra improves blood circulation, allowing the penis to get hard and function sexually.
How to use Nipatra
Nipatra should be taken about one hour before you plan to have sex. Chew the tablet well before swallowing. Nipatra tablets can be taken before, during or after meals. A full stomach can, however, cause the medicine to take effect in a delayed way. Nipatra should not be taken by men without erectile dysfunction and may interfere with certain medicines (see package leaflet). This medicine should not be taken by women and young men under the age of 18.
Nipatra is available in various strengths. The doctor will recommend the right dose for you. Unless otherwise prescribed, the usual starting dose for men aged 18 and above is:
- 50 mg once a day, approximately one hour before sexual activity.
Before you start using Nipatra, be sure to read the package leaflet. It is important to follow the prescribed dosage exactly. Do not take more than one tablet per 24 hours.
Nipatra may have side effects, although not everyone gets them. The most commonly reported side effects include:
- Facial flushing
- Effects on vision (blurred vision, colour tinge to vision, light sensitivity)
- Nasal congestion.
If you have an erection for longer than four hours, contact the doctor immediately. See package leaflet for more side effects, warnings and contraindications.
This medicine may cause dizziness and blurred vision. Stay out of traffic if you experience these side effects.
Drinking alcohol can temporarily impair your ability to get an erection. To get the maximum benefit from your medicine, you are advised to limit or stop drinking alcohol before taking Nipatra.
