What is Captopril?

Captopril an ACE inhibitor; a blood pressure lowering drug. You can order Captopril online through the pharmacies that work with Dokteronline.com.

What is this medication used for?

An ACE inhibitor like Captopril is prescribed for excessive blood pressure and heart failure (the heart does not pump hard enough). Doctors sometimes prescribe Captopril after a heart attack or to diabetics who suffer from a kidney disorder. Captopril reduces the action of ACE, a substance that regulates the tension of muscles around the blood vessels. As a result, the blood vessels dilate and the blood can flow through them. This reduces blood pressure and also causes the heart to work less hard.

How to use Captopril?

Take the tablet without chewing. Take the medication at a fixed time, for example in the morning after getting up. You can take the tablets with or without food. It may take several weeks for the effect of Captopril to be optimal. If after that time you do not notice any improvement of the complaints, please consult with a doctor.

Dosage

The partner pharmacies offer Captopril for sale online. Unless otherwise prescribed by a physician, the usual starting dosage for high blood pressure is as follows:

  • Adults: 12.5 to 25 mg twice daily.

Over time a doctor may adjust the dose. Another dosage recommendation applies for children and for other conditions than high blood pressure. Read the instructions before use.

Side effects

Medications can cause side effects. This also applies to Captopril, although most users of this medicine experience few to no complaints. The side effects you may notice include:

  • Dizziness;
  • Sleep Disorders;
  • Dry cough;
  • Gastrointestinal disorders such as stomach ache, nausea, diarrhea, clogging, loss of taste;
  • Skin rash, itching;
  • Hair loss.

In the leaflet, you will find a complete overview of the possible side effects. If you suffer from any side effects, please consult a doctor or a pharmacist.

When is it best not to use this medication?

Captopril is not a suitable medicine for everyone. Do not use this medicine if you:

  • are hypersensitive to the active substance captopril or any of the excipients used in the tablet;
  • have suffered from angioedema (moisture withdrawal) in the past in response to an ACE inhibitor, by a hereditary factor or by an unknown cause;
  • suffer from diabetes or a renal impairment and are taking a blood pressure lowering medicine that contains aliskiren.
  • are more than 3 months pregnant.

If you have any other health problems, talk to a doctor to know if you can use Captopril. Are you taking any other medicine? Report this to a doctor. Captopril interacts with a number of drugs. A doctor knows which medicines do not work well with Captopril.

Pregnancy / driving / alcohol

The use of Captopril is not advised for women who are pregnant less than three months. In any event, do not use this medicine if you are pregnant more than three months. This is harmful to the baby. If you are breastfeeding, do not use Captopril unless advised by a doctor. The side effects of Captopril (dizziness, fatigue) can reduce your ability to react. Do not take part in traffic if you are suffering from these side effects. Alcohol can enhance side effects like dizziness and fatigue. Be careful when drinking alcohol.
