What is co-trimoxazole?

Co-trimoxazole is an antibiotic or bactericidal drug that is prescribed for various types of bacterial infections. You can order co-trimoxazole antibiotic online at the registered EU pharmacies to which we have access.

What is co-trimoxazole antibiotic used for?

Doctors prescribe co-trimoxazole for bacterial infections, including urinary tract infections; prostate inflammation, certain sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhoea and respiratory infections (pneumonia and middle ear infections). This medicine consists of the two active substances trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole, which are bactericidal medicines that each reinforce the other’s effect. Co-trimoxazole usually works quickly, and within a few days, you will notice that the symptoms of inflammation (such as fever and pain) have decreased.

How should you take co-trimoxazole antibiotic?

Swallow the co-trimoxazole tablets whole with sufficient liquid. If you have difficulty swallowing the tablet, you can also dissolve it into a glass of water first – stir the liquid well and drink it immediately. Take co-trimoxazole antibiotic preferably during or after a meal to prevent gastrointestinal complaints. A doctor will tell you how long you should continue to use this medication. Always complete the treatment, even if you have no symptoms, as stopping antibiotics prematurely can cause the infection to come back.

Dosage

You can buy co-trimoxazole antibiotic tablets online in various strengths from the registered EU pharmacies to which we have access. A doctor knows which strength is best for your symptoms. The dosage guidelines are 480 mg twice a day (every 12 hours) for adults and children over 12 years. For children younger than 12 years of age, a different dosage advice applies based on their body weight. Again, doctors will advise on the correct dosage for your child. For young children, a doctor can also prescribe a suspension (drink) that is easier to take. Read the instructions before use.
