Epstein-Barr Virus Test
What is the Easy Home Epstein-Barr Virus Test?
The Epstein-Barr Virus Test by Easy Home is a test that determines the presence of antibodies to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) antigens in the blood. The EBV virus causes an illness called infectious mononucleosis, also known as glandular fever, which produces symptoms such as an intense feeling of tiredness. The Easy Home Epstein-Barr Virus Test is very easy to use and gives results within only a few minutes. The Easy Home Epstein-Barr Virus Test is available without a prescription.
What is this test used for?
Glandular fever is a viral infection. The infection is transferred from one person to another in saliva. Glandular fever is highly infectious. Its symptoms include:
- Feeling of exhaustion or fatigue that lasts several months;
- Sore throat or laryngitis;
- Swollen lymph glands in the neck, armpits and/or groin;
- Enlarged liver and spleen;
- Yellowish complexion.
If you have any of these symptoms, the Easy Home Epstein-Barr Virus Test can help you determine whether or not you have glandular fever.
How to use the Easy Home Epstein-Barr Virus Test
Before carrying out the test, be sure to have read the package leaflet and have your kit materials ready. This is how the test is done:
- Wash and dry your hands;
- Prick your fingertip with the lancet provided according to the instructions in the package leaflet;
- Squeeze your finger until it bleeds and apply a droplet of blood to the test well;
- Wait 5 or 10 minutes and read the result.
Result of the Easy Home Epstein-Barr Virus Test
The result of the test will appear in the test window on the test cassette. If one coloured line appears in the window, the test is valid and the result is normal. A normal result means that no EBV antibodies were present in your blood sample. This indicates that you have never been infected with the Epstein-Barr virus and you do not have glandular fever. However, if your symptoms do not improve, it is advisable to contact your doctor. Two lines in the test window means that the test has detected EBV antibodies. This means that you are currently infected with EBV or have been infected with the virus in the past. As it is very likely that you have glandular fever, you should contact your doctor for further examination and possible treatment. If no line appears in the test window, then the test is invalid. Dispose of the test cassette and repeat the test.
The Easy Home Epstein-Barr Virus Test has no side effects.
