Male Fertility Test
What is the Test-Point Male Fertility Test?
The Male Fertility Test by Test-Point checks the activity of sperm cells within a sample of semen. The result of the test provides a good indication of fertility. The test can be easily performed at home and gives results in just one hour.
What is this test used for?
If you and your partner have difficulty falling pregnant, one of you may have a fertility problem. Low sperm motility means that the sperm move very slowly or not much at all. The Test-Point Male Fertility Test allows you to determine in the comfort of your own home if your sperm has normal or less than normal activity.
How to use the test
The Test-Point Male Fertility Test is very easy to use. It is, however, important that you read the package leaflet carefully and follow the steps accurately. This is how the test works:
- To ensure accurate test results, please read the package leaflet thoroughly and check the kit contents before performing the test;
- Ejaculate by masturbation to collect a semen sample;
- Add the test liquid according to the instructions in the package leaflet;
- Place the test tube containing the semen mixture in warm water and let it stand for one hour;
- Shake the test tube and compare the colour of the mixture with the colour chart provided in the test kit;
- Repeat the test after at least one week.
The test kit contains materials for performing two fertility tests. As sperm quality can be affected by many factors it is important to check your sperm twice to get a clear picture of your fertility potential. Allow a gap of at least one week between the two tests. If the result of the second test is very different from that of the first test, you should have your sperm checked in a laboratory.
Result of the fertility test
Use the colour chart to see if your sperm best matches the ‘Positive’ or the ‘Negative’ group. If the colour match is in the ‘Positive’ group there is an 86% chance that sperm activity is normal (20 million or more active sperm per millilitre of fluid).
If the colour match is in the ‘Negative’ group there is an 86% chance that the sperm activity is below normal. In this case, a doctor should be consulted.
Note: A negative result does not mean you are infertile. If pregnancy is not desired, you should use a contraceptive as a precaution.
The Test-Point Male Fertility Test has no side effects. Avoid bodily contact with the blue test fluid. The test fluid is toxic if swallowed and can irritate the skin, mucous membranes and airways.
When not to use the test
The Test-Point Male Fertility Test is intended for use in adult men only.
Note: Men who are colour blind and have trouble seeing pink and red may not be able to read the test results.
Do not use the test if the expiration date on the box has passed.
