What is Mandolgin?

The active substance in Mandolgin is tramadol, a powerful morphine-like painkiller. Mandolgin interrupts the transmission of pain stimuli in the central nervous system, causing moderate-to-severe pain to diminish rapidly. What is this medication used for?

Mandolgin is more effective than paracetamol and anti-inflammatory painkillers. This medicine is therefore prescribed for moderate to severe pain as a result of, for example:

  • an operation or injury;
  • a (severe) disease;
  • migraine;
  • nerve pain;
  • osteoarthritis.

Mandolgin also helps against pain with other causes.

How to use Mandolgin?

Mandolgin is available as a capsule and as a tablet with delayed release ("retard"). Take the tablet or capsule without chewing with sufficient fluid. You can take this painkiller with or without food. Mandolgin starts working after about an hour. The analgesic effect can last up to 12 hours. Take the pain killer as much as possible at regular times. Read the instructions before use.


The partner pharmacies offer Mandolgin available online in different strengths. A doctor knows which strength you can use best. The general guidelines for the dosage of painkillers based on tramadol are as follows:

  • Adults and children over 12 years: twice daily one tablet or capsule in the prescribed strength.

Side effects

Mandolgin can cause side effects. These are complaints such as:

  • Fatigue, drowsiness, somnolence;
  • Nausea and vomiting;
  • Dizziness;
  • Constipation.

Most side effects wear off after a few days to weeks, once the body is accustomed to the drug. If this is not the case, please consult a physician. You will find a complete list of possible side effects in the leaflet.

When is it best not to use this medication?

Mandolgin is not a suitable painkiller for everyone. Do not use this painkiller if you:

  • are hypersensitive to tramadol or any of the excipients used;;
  • have taken an overdose of alcohol, hypnotics or other (medicine) that affects the central nervous system;
  • suffer from a form of epilepsy for which you are not using drugs;
  • Are being or just have been treated with certain antidepressants (MAOIs).

Do you have any other health problems? Talk to a doctor about using Mandolgin. This drug may interact with other medications. Please mention in your request what medication you are taking. The doctor can then take that into account. The leaflet provides more information about the contraindications and other warnings.

Pregnancy / driving / alcohol

Do not use Mandolgin if you are pregnant and preferably also if you are breastfeeding. A doctor can advise you about this. Mandolgin can affect your reaction time, especially at the beginning of treatment. Do not participate in traffic as long as you experience this. Do not combine Mandolgin with alcohol, as it can trigger or increase the side effects of this medication. It is not allowed to order more than 400 mg Tramadol a day, with a max. of 30 days, per order. These orders will be disapproved by the doctor and pharmacy.
