Patient Leaflet(s)

What is Millinette?

Millinette is a contraceptive pill that works on the basis of two hormones, ethinylestradiol and gestodene. These substances inhibit ovulation and have an effect on the mucous membrane in the uterus. Because of this there can be no pregnancy. You can order Millinette online through the pharmacies that work with Dokteronline.com.

What is this medication used for?

The contraceptive pill is intended to prevent a pregnancy. If you use Millinette as intended, it is a highly reliable contraceptive. The pill is also sometimes prescribed to reduce menstrual problems (severe bleeding, significant abdominal pain or an irregular cycle). Your period does not occur anymore during the use of Millinette, but you will notice a monthly withdrawal bleeding that is much milder.

How to use Millinette?

The cooperating pharmacies offer Millinette online in two strengths (75 micrograms gestodene / ethinyl estradiol 20 micrograms or 75 micrograms gestodene / 30 micrograms ethinyl estradiol). A doctor can inform you about the best choice between both dosages. Take one pill each day until the pack is empty. Then follows a gap week: do not take a pill for seven days. During this week a withdrawal bleeding will occur. On the eighth day you start with a new strip. The pill should be taken daily at a fixed time. I you have vomited, suffered from watery diarrhea or if you missed a pill, then you may be less well protected against pregnancy. You will find information in the leaflet on what to do in these situations. You can also consult with a doctor or pharmacist.

Dosage

The dosage for Millinette is as follows:

  • Adult women: take one pill each day during 21 days at a fixed time. Then follows a gap week.

Read the instructions before use.

Side effects

When using the contraceptive pill, you may sometimes experience side effects (especially at first), including:

  • Strained or painful sensation in the breasts;
  • Breakthrough bleeding;
  • Gastric Intestinal problems;
  • Headache.

If the symptoms do not disappear naturally or if you suffer from severe or serious adverse reactions (see leaflet), please consult a doctor. The leaflet provides more information about this topic.

When is it best not to use this medication?

Millinette is not a suitable method of contraception for everyone. Do not use Millinette in the following cases:

  • You are allergic to ethinyl estradiol, gestodene, or any of the excipients used;
  • You suffer (or have suffered) from thrombosis, a blood clotting disorder, a stroke or a myocardial infarction;
  • You suffer (or have suffered) from a liver disease or certain cancers.
  • You suffer from vaginal bleeding of unknown cause.

Do you suffer from another condition, are there any risk factors (see package insert) or do you use drugs? Please talk to a doctor to know if you may use Millinette. For more information about the contraindications and other cautionary statements, please refer to the package insert.
