What is Nobligan?

Nobligan contains tramadol, a morphine-like painkiller. This medicine reduces the transmission of pain stimuli, thereby decreasing moderate to severe pain. Nobligan is intended for pain on which acetaminophen or anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or aspirin) do not have enough effect. What is this medication used for?

Morphine-like analgesics such as Nobligan are used to treat a variety of moderate to severe pain, as a result of:

  • A disease, surgery or injury;
  • Nerve pain (facial pain);
  • Osteoarthritis;
  • Cluster headache or migraine.

Nobligan can also be used against pain with a different cause.

How to use Nobligan?

Nobligan is available in drops, tablets and tablets with a prolonged release. You will find information on how to take the medicine in the leaflet. You can take Nobligan with or without food. The analgesic effect is usually noticeable within one hour. Use morphine-like painkillers always in the lowest possible dose and do not take the drug longer than necessary.


The partner pharmacies offer Nobligan available online. Unless a doctor prescribes otherwise, the usual dosage is as follows:

  • Adults and children over 12 years: three to four times daily 1 to 2 doses of 50 mg.

Do not take more than 400 mg of Nobligan (8 doses of 50 mg) per day. For younger children require a different dosage. Do not deviate from the prescribed dosage and read the instructions before use.

Side effects

Morphine-like painkillers can cause side effects. The side effects you may possibly experience during your treatment with Nobligan, include:

  • Drowsiness and fatigue;
  • Nausea and vomiting;
  • Dry mouth;
  • Blurred vision;
  • Dizziness;
  • Sweating;
  • Constipation.

The side effects are often temporary. Once the body is accustomed to the active substance tramadol, the symptoms will be reduced. Consult with a physician if you experience prolonged or severe side effects or when it comes to side effects not listed in this leaflet.

When is it best not to use this medication?

Nobligan is not a suitable medicine for everyone. Do not use this painkiller if you:

  • are hypersensitive to tramadol or any of the excipients used;
  • are pregnant;
  • are using agents (such as alcohol, sleeping pills and certain medications) that affect the central nervous system.
  • suffer from epilepsy that is not controlled;
  • are being treated or have just been treated with MAOI-type medication.

Pregnancy / driving / alcohol

Do not use Nobligan if you are pregnant. This painkiller can only be used on the advice of a physician during breastfeeding. This medicine can (especially at first), affect your reactivity by side effects such as drowsiness, blurred vision and dizziness. Do not participate in traffic or operate hazardous machinery as long as you suffer from these side effects. Do not drink alcohol while you are being treated with morphine-like painkillers such as Nobligan. Alcohol may trigger or worsen the side effects of this medicine.
