What is Finasteride 1 mg?

What is this medication used for?

Doctors prescribe finasteride 1 mg against androgenetic alopecia, a hereditary form of baldness which occurs mostly in men.

This condition is caused by sensitization of the (hair) follicles to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHA). Under the influence of this substance, the hair follicles shrivel, causing the hair first to get thinner, then fall out and not grow back. Finasteride inhibits the effect of dihydrotestosterone. This will stop the hair loss and hair can regrow on bald spots.

How to use Finasteride 1 mg?

Swallow the Finasteride 1 mg tablet whole with some water, with or without food. It may take some time before the effect of Finasteride 1 mg is noticeable. Often, improvement is only seen after three to six months. If Finasteride 1mg is effective against your baldness, you should continue to use it on the long term. If you stop taking the medicine, the hair loss could return. Do not take this medicine more than once a day.
