Ipratropium steri-neb is used for patients with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The symptoms of asthma and COPD include difficulty breathing, shortness of breath and coughing. The active ingredient in the ipratropium inhaler allows the muscles around the airways to relax and the airways to open. This reduces coughing and makes it easier for people with asthma or COPD to breathe. The ipratropium inhaler provides around six hours of relief.

Follow these steps to inhale the bromide ipratropium:

1. Set up the nebuliser for use;
2. Open one ampoule of bromide ipratropium by twisting the top and squeeze the contents into the nebuliser, possibly diluted with a salt solution (only if advised by a doctor);
3. The nebuliser should then be used as directed by your doctor;
4. Clean the nebuliser after use.

You should take care when using nebuliser medication to avoid the mist or medicine getting in your eyes. Ipratropium steri- neb can cause (serious) eye problems or make existing eye problems worse.

The usual dose is:

• adults and children aged 12 and above: one 250 mcg or 500 mcg ampoule, three to four times a day;
