Katya is a contraceptive and is thus used to prevent pregnancy. Because of this combined contraceptive pill, there is no real menstrual bleeding but a mild withdrawal bleeding, which makes it also suitable to combat menstrual symptoms.

The collaborating pharmacies offer the Katya contraceptive pill online in packs of one, three or six strips of 21 pills. Take one Katya contraceptive pill each day at around the same time. It does not matter whether the pill is taken with or without food.

When the strip is empty, follow with a week off where you do not take the Katya contraceptive pill for seven days. During this stop week, a withdrawal bleeding will start. On the eighth day, start with a new strip.

Katya is a very reliable contraceptive pill as long as you do not forget to take it. Like other birth control pills, the Katya combined contraceptive pill can sometimes cause side effects, including strained or painful breasts, breakthrough bleeding, gastro-intestinal problems (nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain) and headaches. These (or other) side effects may occur, especially in the beginning. After a few weeks, when the body has become accustomed to the hormones, the symptoms tend to disappear. If this is not the case or if you suffer from severe or serious adverse reactions (see package insert), please consult a doctor. Katya is not a suitable contraceptive pill for everyone. Do not take the Katya combined contraceptive pill if you:

• Are oversensitive to ethinylestradiol, gestodene, or any of the excipients used;
• Suffer (or have suffered) from thrombosis, a blood clotting disorder, a stroke or a myocardial infarction;
• Suffer (or have suffered) from a liver disease or certain cancers;
• Suffer vaginal bleeding of unknown cause.

The Katya contraceptive pill should not be used during pregnancy. Do not use this contraceptive pill if you are breastfeeding – your doctor may prescribe a different oral contraceptive in that case.

Katya does not affect your ability to drive. There is no warning against the consumption of alcohol with this contraceptive pill.
