Beconase Nasal Spray

When is Beconase used?

How do you use Beconase?

Beconase spray is only intended for use in the nose. Either put one or two sprays of the medication directly into your nostril twice per day or follow the instructions of your doctor. You should be careful not to spray Beconase nasal spray into your eyes. Blow your nose gently to clear the nasal passageways before you use Beconase spray and shake the container before each use. You will need to prime the spray pump if you have not used it before.
To use your Beconase nasal spray, remove the safety clip that comes attached to the spray and the plastic cap. Close one of your nostrils by pressing it down with your fingertip, then tilt your head forward slightly, and keep the bottle upright. Carefully put the applicator into your nostril and press on the pump to deliver the Beconase spray into your nose. Do not angle the spray towards the inner wall of your nostril, as this can increase your risk of side effects.
Make sure that the beclomethasone gets into your system properly by breathing gently through your nose and out through your mouth. Repeat the process in both nostrils, and make sure that the applicator tip is clean before you replace the plastic cap that comes with the medication. Do not blow your nose for at least fifteen minutes after using Beconase nasal spray.
What are the correct dosages?
The dosage of Beconase nasal spray prescribed to you by your consultant or doctor will depend on a number of factors, including your response to treatment and the medical condition that you wish to address. The most common dose is one or two sprays in each nostril two times per day. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 may be required to take a smaller dose of this medication, or only use it once per day. Your doctor will tell you how long you need to continue taking this medication for, or you can ask them for more information. Beconase spray needs to be used regularly to get the most benefit from it.
You may find it easier to get the right results from your medication if you use Beconase at the same time each day. Some people will feel better after taking Beconase spray for just a few days, but it can take up to two weeks before you recognise the full benefits of the beclomethasone. What are the side effects of Beconase?

Most of the ones associated with Beconase are mild and will go away of their own accord as your body gets used to the medication. These might include slight dryness or discomfort in your throat and nose after you use Beconase spray.

Corticosteroids can sometimes reduce your body’s ability to fight infection. It is important that you seek emergency help if you notice symptoms of an infection, including sore throat, ear pain fever, or chills. Although a significant allergic reaction to this medication is rare, it is nonetheless possible. You should seek immediate attention from a medical professional if you notice a rash, itching, swelling around the throat or tongue, dizziness, wheezing, or trouble breathing.
When should you not use Beconase?
Not everyone will be able to use Beconase nasal spray safely. It is important to tell your doctor or consultant immediately if you are allergic to beclomethasone or have any other allergies. This product can also contain inactive ingredients which might lead to allergic reactions. Speak to your doctor if you have any concerns.
Before using this medication, you will need to answer any questions that your consultant has carefully. Tell your consultant about your medical history, particularly if you have had eye problems such as cataracts or glaucoma, or infections such as tuberculosis. You should also make sure your consultant is aware of any recent nasal problems such as ulcers and surgeries.

During pregnancy, Beconase nasal spray should only be used when it is deemed absolutely necessary. You can discuss the benefits of this medication with your consultant before you begin using it if you are concerned or uncertain. It is uncertain at this time whether beclomethasone passes into breast milk. If you are worried about nursing or breastfeeding when you are using Beconase nasal spray, ask your consultant whether you should consider taking another medication.
Does Beconase interact with other medications?
Beconase nasal spray and other medications can sometimes have a higher risk of causing side effects when used alongside other drugs. It is important that your consultant is fully aware of all medications that you are using before you begin taking Beconase nasal spray. Tell your consultant if you are already taking any over-the-counter medications, drugs prescribed by a doctor, or herbal remedies.
It may not be a good idea to take beclomethasone with other corticosteroids, as this could increase your chances of having corticosteroid-based side effects. Ensure that your consultant is aware of any other steroids you are using, including tablets and creams. Additionally, if you need to apply any other medications by nasal spray when you are using Beconase, ask your consultant how long you should leave it between applying each medication, as using two sprays too close together could dilute the effects of both medications.
