Lisinopril

Lisinopril is a drug that is classified as an ACE-inhibitor (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme). Lisinopril ensures the dilation of the blood vessels and fluid secretion in the urine which lowers blood pressure and significantly improves cardiac pump functionality.The drug is prescribed by a doctor in the event of high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, after a heart attack and renal disease.

A daily dose lasts up to 24 hours. The doctor shall determine which dose is best for you. You will find this on the label of the medication packaging. It is important that you take Lisinopril at a fixed time every day. For example, in the morning with breakfast or, if you are dizzy, take it before you go to sleep. This will reduce the chance that you will forget. If you do forget to take your medication, skip it if there is more than 12 hours in between doses (if you take it once a day) and wait until it is time for the next dose. The effect of Lisinopril is noticeable after 2 to 4 weeks. It may be that you are dizzy in the first few days, this is because your body needs to get used to a lower blood pressure. In this case do not drive a car and be careful when operating machinery. You may eat and drink anything, but be careful with alcohol. You may become dizzy, because alcohol dilates the blood vessels just like Lisinopril. You may stop using your medications at any time, but always do so after consulting the doctor. Blood pressure may rise again which causes fluid retention and shortness of breath. If Lisinopril works well for you, the chances are great that you may need to use this medication for a longer period of time.

You have the highest chance to suffer from side effects within the first few days of the treatment, or after an increase in dosage. These are almost always temporary. If you are uncertain, always contact the doctor or pharmacist. The main side effects at a glance:

• tickling cough
• headache
• nausea

• hypersensitivity to lisinopril
• with Angioedema
• during pregnancy or if you want to become pregnant
• breastfeeding

Lisinopril is available in tablet form in the variants 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg and 20mg. Store Lisinopril below 30 º C and do not use the medicine after the expiration date.
