What is EpiAnal?

EpiAnal relieves anal discomfort caused by haemorrhoids. The active ingredients sodium oleate and polidocanol help haemorrhoids heal faster and reduce pain and itching. EpiAnal is available in cream and suppository form. EpiAnal is available online through a Dokteronline.com partner pharmacy.

What is EpiAnal used for?

Haemorrhoids are small bulging lumps around the anus. They develop when increased pressure on the pelvic veins causes veins in the anal canal to swell or bulge, for example due to straining on the toilet, obesity, pregnancy or childbirth. Haemorrhoids are classified in two categories: internal and external. Internal haemorrhoids develop within the anus, external haemorrhoids develop outside. Haemorrhoids cause problems such as itching and pain in or around the anal region, especially after passing a stool. The active ingredients in EpiAnal temporarily desensitise the skin, which relieves pain and itching. EpiAnal also contains ingredients which cause the swollen blood vessels to shrink, allowing the haemorrhoids to heal faster.

How to use EpiAnal

Dokteronline.com's partner pharmacies have EpiAnal available in cream and suppository form. The cream is used to treat external haemorrhoids. The suppositories should be used for internal haemorrhoids. EpiAnal should be used at least twice a day, in the morning and evening. We also recommend using EpiAnal after each bowel movement. Clean the anal area and dab dry before use. Then apply the cream thinly to the haemorrhoids or insert a suppository. If EpiAnal doesn't provide adequate relief, or if you have very painful or bleeding haemorrhoids, then you should seek medical advice. Read the package leaflet or instructions on the package before use.

Side effects

EpiAnal cream and suppositories are generally well tolerated. Some people may experience a burning or warm sensation following application. These side effects are generally temporary. For more information, see the package leaflet.

When not to use EpiAnal

Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in EpiAnal (see the label on the package or package leaflet). This medicine should not be used to treat bleeding haemorrhoids.
