What is Metrogel?
Metrogel is an anti-inflammatory gel for the skin. The active substance is an antibiotic called metronidazole: it fights bacteria that can cause skin problems. This reduces pimples and redness of the skin, for example as a result of rosacea or a skin infection. You can order Metrogel online through the pharmacies that work together with Dokteronline.com.
What is this medication used for?
Doctors prescribe Metrogel among others against rosacea, a condition of the facial skin which is accompanied by the following symptoms:
- Red spots, especially on the cheeks, forehead, chin and tip of the nose;
- bumps or pimples;
- dilated, visible blood vessels.
Metrogel soothes the skin. Symptoms such as redness and impurities of the skin are reduced within weeks.
How to use Metrogel?
Apply the gel on a clean, dry skin and massage the product lightly into the skin. Wash your hands after applying the medicine and do not let the gel come into contact with your eyes. If this happens, rinse your eyes with plenty of water. Let the gel dry before applying any care products or makeup on the skin. It may take several weeks before you notice the effect of Metrogel. Keep using the medication. In the leaflet you can read more about the use of the gel.
The partner pharmacies offer Metrogel available online. One gram of Metrogel contains 7.5 mg of metronidazole. A doctor will decide how often and how long you should use the gel. Guidelines for dosage are as follows:
- Adults: apply a thin layer twice daily (morning and evening) on the affected skin.
This drug is not suitable for children. Read the instructions before use.
Side effects can occur during your treatment with Metrogel, although not everybody gets affected. Common side effects, include:
- irritation on the skin where the product was applied. If you suffer from this, it can help to use the gel temporarily less often;
- dry skin;
- Worsening of rosacea symptoms.
If you suffer from prolonged or severe side effects, please consult a doctor. The leaflet provides more information about the possible side effects.
When is it best not to use this medication?
Metrogel is not a suitable medicine for everyone. Do not use this medication if you are allergic to metronidazole or any of the excipients used. Do you use any other medication? Ask a doctor if you can combine these medicines with Metrogel.
Note: Metrogel makes the skin more sensitive to UV radiation. Avoid direct sunlight and do not go tanning while taking this medication.
Pregnancy / driving / alcohol
Use Metrogel only in consultation with a doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
There are no warnings with regards to driving and drinking alcohol.
